Hurricane Preparedness in

Panama City Beach

The Atlantic hurricane seasons lasts from June to November. It is important for everyone in the Panama City Beach area to keep an eye on tropical weather, so you will have time to prepare if you need. The most dangerous element is the storm surge (how far inland the waters will come). Wind, and rainfall, which can cause flooding can also be dangerous. Home and property owners should review their insurance protection prior to hurricane season. Many policies do not cover flood damage. When a tropical weather is forecast, stay tuned to local broadcast media for evacuation instructions. A volunteer evacuation means that it would be a good idea to leave, but you don’t have to. A mandatory evacuation means that you must leave.

Hurricane Categories

Hurricanes are categorized on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the most powerful.

    Category 4 from 130-156 MPH
